Joe Shafer came to us from the Green Mountains of Vermont, although that’s not technically true... After earning his BA in Film and South Asian Studies from Hampshire College (including shooting his thesis documentary in India) and founding the artist collective, Nine37, he moved to New York City where he worked as a Technical Director for Rooftop Films and as a freelance engineer. From 2005 to 2008, Joe worked on the Sundance selection, On the Road with Judas, worked as the engineer-in-charge on a BBC reality show, and then shot Ramchand, a feature film, in the deserts of Pakistan. After all this, New York seemed like less of an adventure. So, he and his lovely lady Wendi packed up and headed to the West Coast. So, technically, Joe came to us from NYC, but if you spend any amount of time with him, you'll see, he exudes the energy of the mountains back in his native Vermont.
