Though people guess that Maris Curran is from Eastern Europe, she actually grew up in Philadelphia, where she learned to speak fluent Spanish among the Puerto Rican families in her neighborhood.  After receiving her BA from Smith College and an MFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, she earned a Fulbright Scholarship to write a feature-length screenplay in Mexico City.  Maris' short films and videos have screened internationally in galleries, film festivals and cultural centers.  With a strong narrative background, she brings a keen sense of storytelling to her work.  If she's not writing, researching or producing at Studio B, she's probably out on our back deck watching the Hummingbirds dart and dive above the creek. Outside of work, you might spot Maris scouring the local film scene for screenings of rare and revived films from around the world.
