| | RED Epic Camera Rental | The RED EPIC X has arrived here at Studio B! We are proud to offer this brand new compact, modular, highly versatile Digital Cinema Camera to our ever growing camera line up. 5K resolution and incredibly high dynamic range means that this camera is suited to a wide variety of applications, from narrative feature films and shorts to commercials, webisodes, corporate videos and even documentaries. At one third the size of a RED One, the EPIC is uniquely suited to the applications that Studio B and our clients are accustomed to.
We have been impressed by other improvements over the RED One, including quick boot up time, easier media management with the SSD drive system, and everyday ease of use. Menu navigation has been much improved as well, no more digging through endless layers of menus to find those basic functions you need. The most critical functions are the most easily accessible. Also gone are the temperature problems which notoriously plagued the RED One in the past.
The EPIC shoots at 5K resolution in standard configuration, and from what we’ve seen, the combination of the higher resolution and RED’s highly praised full-frame Mysterium X sensor creates some truly beautiful images. Claiming a native dynamic range of over 13 stops and using their ‘HDRx’ technology an extended dynamic range of up to 18 stops, the EPIC is a force to be reckoned with. The EPIC is also capable of some very high frame rates, up to 120fps at 5K, 300fps at 2K, and everything in between. And like with the RED One, all PL-mount cinema lenses are fully compatible with our EPIC X.
All in all, the EPIC is the full-featured update to the RED One that we’ve been waiting for. We are very excited to add this camera to Studio B’s arsenal, and can’t wait to see what our customers do with it!
